Description Tomas Mecir 2008-07-02 09:52:11 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.4)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Currently, when I have the compositing effects enabled in KWin, and a screensaver starts, compositing remains enabled, which leads to the screensaver using up a lot of CPU time due to the compositing overhead, which doesn't however have any visible effect.

This means that the fans on my laptop start being noisy, compilation/whatever tasks have to compete for CPU time with kscreensaver/kwin, etc.

Thus, my wish. Please disable the compositing mode of kwin while a scrensaver (or any full-screen application, as I'd imagine this would affect media players too? - untested) is active, then re-enable it when it is hidden.

I am filing this as a kscreensaver wish, as I'm unsure whether this should be handled by it or by kwin, if the latter is he case, please move it to where it needs to be.
