Description kensmith 2008-06-29 01:57:12 UTC
Version: 0.7 (using KDE 4.0.4)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I installed many new applications using YAST2.

The menu grew a new entry called "new applications" which seemed to contain all of the new applications.

I then used "kmenuedit" in an attempt to sort out these menus. The menu structure shown in "kmenuedit" was different from the menus I have.

I attempted to just insert a dividing line between items using the "new separator" function.
This attempt appeared to fail because I simply couldn't get the separator to go between items.

I saved the results. Now I have "new applications" in many places such as in the first line of the games submenu.

It would be nice if kmenuedit said what file it was munging and made a back up so I could put it back to something that sort of worked manually.

The new applications menu just contains copies of the newly added applications so you can easily find them. They are also present in their assigned menus eg 'Games' .

You can get the original system setup back with Edit->Restore to System Menu.

I can insert separator between two items easily using kmenuedit 0.8 in KDE SC 4.9
