Version: (using KDE 3.5.9) Installed from: Compiled From Sources OS: Linux usecase: I want to create all previews / thumbnails from scratch (menu: extras ..., don't know the exact english words as I use the german version) I use ".pef" raw-files result: only jpgs are handled, the pef files are ignored BTW: only a small part of the jpgs is handled, but that's another issue
No... Image Preview are not cached on hard drive. there are hosted in your photo file metadata. RAW preview is a jpeg image geenrated by your camera to display speedly the image on a tv. For other format, IPTC.Preview is used for that (PNG, TIFF). For jpeg image, the preview is generated by a reduced version of real image provided by libjpeg... in all case, these preview mode extraction are very fast. There is no plan to make a cache for that.
