Description Tobias 2008-06-16 21:29:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.80)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

This is a feature that PowerDVD on Windows does have and that I'm missing on all Linux DVD players:

The position of DVDs should be saved. So the player should save some kind of ID for the disc and the next time it is entered, it should remember where (track and track position) the DVD was last closed.

This is especially handy when you watch DVDs with multiple episodes (like sitcoms). When you close the player you are usually in the menu that allows you to select the next episode. So if you close the player and open it again on some other day, you will be right back in that menu without having to search through submenus.

Expected behavior:

- Enter DVD A
- Select some track (menu or video track) and let it play for a while.
- Close the player
- Remove DVD A and enter DVD B
- Play DVD B
- Remove DVD B and enter DVD A
- DVD A is resumed to the track and position where you last closed it

Actually the DVDs are not managed completle in phonon, and until this will not change, we will not create this feature. I think it will be prepared soon after :).

Thanks for specifying this. So is this already on the Phonon feature list or should I request it there?

DVD support has been broken for a while, and has been removed in the upcoming 25.8.0 release.
