Version: 4.0.80 (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux There is a feature I miss not only in Kopete, but especially in it - import of message histories from Kopete from KDE3. Possibly for other IM clients later, too, which could be hard to to. I use Kopete at work and have a lot of important information in the message from the previous Kopete. It would be a really nice feature to semi-automatically merge from these histories by finding the appropriate contacts and merge it not loosing the timeline within this contact.
You don't have to import the old ones. Just keep the kopete folder in .kde/share/apps and the history is still available.
Ok, you're right in case of not already having new logs in Kopete from KDE4. My problem was already a bit different. I already produced logs in the KDE4 Kopete, which were written to a different folder than in KDE3. As a result, I had to merge all double logs from the concerned month to get old and new logs together in a text editor. This merging could be done by Kopete itself, anyway.
I would like an easy way to import from Pidgin, but I understand that this might not be possible.
(In reply to comment #3) > I would like an easy way to import from Pidgin, Wait for KDE 4.3.
Isn't it already fixed?
This hasn't been implemented even in KDE 4.4 Beta1. Kopete migrates/overtakes only it own message history provided that it is configured to be read from the same directory as before. I can't find any feature or plugin which imports several message history formats (including the Kopete-native one) from a different directory or file. May be it won't be done never, it's only a wish. Lets look forward to KDE 4.5 :-)
Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
