I'm getting a black screen on start-up with compositing enabled on my nvidia card.  Sometimes I am able to fix it by pressing control-F8 to use the desktop grid feature (which makes it suddenly work for some reason) and sometimes I have to go to a non-graphical command line and kill kwin, then start it again, then press control-F8.

I'm an experienced Linux user and would be happy to provide any logs or additional information that might help track this down.  I am also willing to act as a test case if need be.
