Version: (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux I have two screens (1024x768 and 1600x1200) attached to a single graphics card. They are configured to use the Xinerama extensions of the proprietary nvidia driver (169.12-3 from Debian unstable). In KDE 3.5.9 I can separately configure the backgrounds for both Xinerama displays. In current KDE HEAD this is not possible. Instead, the Xinerama desktop background is covered only by a 1600x1200 background, which covers all of my 1024x768 display (to the left) and part of the 1600x1200 display (to the right). The panel is correctly placed on the left screen, which makes me think that kwin is not the problem here.
I can confirm the problem in KDE 4.1.1-Ubuntu. In my experience the background image of the first screen is sometimes duplicated, but at some point disappears and a "transparent" background appears instead (very bright white and grey squares). Newly Setting the wallpaper for the first screen does not fix this. I also noticed that the plasma applet in the top right corner for adding new plasmoids to your corona/screen exists twice on the primary screen.
There are currently other multi head issues from my and other people's experience: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162623 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158850 It seems directly starting with starkde might help...
In 4.1.2 I can select different background. But I'm not using xinerama. And I have to setup the screens statically in xorg.conf. If I use xrandr to set them up it won't work. And I've got AIGLX disabled.
can you please check again with a more recent trunk (or soon beta1)? the inclusion of kephal should have made things work more nicely toghether. =)
Unfortunately, with a fresh compile from trunk, the issue is still the same.
Oos, it was a problem with my setup! I have it working beautifully now.
