Version: inconnu (using 3.5.9 "release 61.2" , openSUSE ) Compiler: Target: x86_64-suse-linux OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.22.17-0.1-default this kind of menu is old... few application use it... but there are very productive (some test prove it).... qt pie menu http://trolltech.com/products/qt/addons/catalog/4/Widgets/qtpiemenu/ really nice gimp mockup about pie menu http://images.google.fr/imgres?imgurl=http://bp2.blogger.com/_wmx3OgdATU0/R2_Q2mHP5iI/AAAAAAAAAaI/EsvQMIpTc9g/s400/def_1.png&imgrefurl=http://gimp-brainstorm.blogspot.com/2007/12/round-menu-with-custom-tools.html&h=234&w=400&sz=109&hl=fr&start=15&sig2=gyxNgJ7qhz2flvA-VHD8qg&um=1&tbnid=Yr6hO2mJdkbdSM:&tbnh=73&tbnw=124&ei=AFZASOz0CJj6-QLq97HWBg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dround%2Bmenu%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dfr%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:fr:official%26hs%3DC4U%26sa%3DN other pie menu http://www.donhopkins.com/drupal/node/128 some game use it that could be a very big advantage to kde ergonomy
I fully support this! Pie menu should be implemented ASAP. It is very big ergonomy and design advantage... Much usable than dropdown menus... Imagine this for example in plasmoids... Od dolphin! :-)
@Marc: do you suggest to implement pie menus on all applications or only on the desktop?
don't know if that could be a good choice for all application... but could be great for some one i think.... i don't checked the api for kde menu... but that could be fine if there are a property for the style of the menu... normal, pie...
About "pie menus" on plasma: bug #179778.
pie menu mockup for gimp is nice, i think similar one could be used in some program like krita, kword, digikam
I support this idea. Pie menus can be useful for all kinds of context menus (inconvenient for menubars though, due to their location, which does not allow placement of pie menus in fullscreen mode and them one menu on their own you can hover through, which wouldn't be possible with pie menus. I would also support an option to replace *all* context menus with pie menus. But I don't really know how flexible QtPieMenu is. Transparency, especially in the middle, is important, so you can see what you actually invoked the context menu on, this should be possible with themes, if it's not built-in. What about large menus? Does QtPieMenu support ordering menu items in a ring? Pie menus reduce mouse movement and make quick selection of items easier, as it is the direction, not the distance that needs to be remembered. I also believe they are cleaner and last but not least, they look much cooler, if they are done the right way.
There is now also a QML pie menu style. It would be nice to have a pie menu alternative layout on the right click menu. Especially for touch pads, having a pie/circular/radial menu would be far easier than having to scroll down a drop-down menu upon right click. http://doc.qt.io/QtQuickEnterpriseControls/qml-qtquick-enterprise-controls-styles-piemenustyle.html
