Version: 4.0.74 (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: gcc-4.3.1-0.20080515.2mnb2 OS: Linux tcb and pam_tcb are more secure in managing passwords then the previous password / shadow-utils cf: http://www.openwall.com/tcb/ http://www.builderau.com.au/program/linux/soa/Migrating-from-shadow-passwords-to-tcb-in-Linux/0,339028299,339269540,00.htm http://freshmeat.net/projects/tcb-adduser/ and are already implemented on Owl, altlinux, annvix and available for Gentoo and Mandriva Linux But currently, when tcb is enabled, kuser is unable to operate anymore, as it does not find /etc/shadow for reading on opening, and does not find /etc/shadow.bak for writing when kuser tries to add a new user. Also, user passwords etc. cannot now be managed anymore with kuser. IMHO kuser should keep up with latest security developments and be compatible with a system where tcb is enabled. Feel free to classify this as 'enhancement', but I feel it is a must-have for KDE4.
kuser no longer exists as a separate thing and hasn't for several years; it's relevant functionality now exists as the Users page in System Settings. If you experience an issue with that page, or want to request a new feature for it, feel free to open a new bugzilla ticket about the matter at https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=systemsettings&component=kcm_users. Thanks folks!
