Description Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-22 15:51:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Bug since there is data loss.

Run gwenview, run gimp. Rotate image in gwenview (*), load image in gimp, make some changes. Save in gimp. Jump to next image in gwenview. Get back -- the image is in state from point (*).

This bug does not apply to Gwenview 2 because it does not automatically save changes. I have no time to work on Gwenview 1 anymore, so this bug won't be fixed, sorry.
Comment 2 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-23 08:42:54 UTC
> Gwenview 2 does not automatically save changes

You mean, if I have to rotate 100 images, I have to save each one of them?

This is major drawback -- it is better to have this feature, and if anyone is scared, revert (feature) as well. Otherwise it will be huge loss in productivity.
Comment 3 Aurelien Gateau 2008-05-23 09:58:32 UTC
No: when you rotate an image, Gwenview shows a "save bar" indicating
that an image has been changed and let you go to another image without
automatically saving it. If you rotate more than one image, the save bar
will contain a "save all" button, which will let you save all your
changes in one click. You will also be offered to save all your changes
when leaving Gwenview.

Comment 4 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-23 14:15:04 UTC
1) sounds great! :-)

2) I am sorry in advance for using older version, but when I look at the screenshots I am not sure if the clash cannot occur anymore

Example:
Run gwenview,
run gimp.
Rotate image in gwenview
load image in gimp, make some changes. Save in gimp.
switch to gwenview.
Save in gwenview (*)

(*) what will happen here? -- if there is no mechanism to check external changes the problem is still there, if there is mechanism for this too I can only say "great for the second time :-)"
Comment 5 Aurelien Gateau 2008-05-25 00:25:28 UTC
You are right, that's still a problem, even if it's not as bad as before
because Gwenview does not save behind your back anymore.

Unfortunately we are in feature and string freeze right now, so I won't
be able to implement this for KDE4.1.
Comment 6 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-25 07:18:49 UTC
Aurelien, thank you for the answer -- so I reopen this report, because it is a bit different, but still valid issue.
Comment 7 Jekyll Wu 2012-01-03 00:57:43 UTC
The problem described in comment #4 still exists in KDE SC 4.8 RC1.
Comment 8 Myriam Schweingruber 2013-04-03 14:11:31 UTC
Is this still valid for Gwenview 4.10 or later?
