Description Jeff Hoffman 2008-05-22 14:18:26 UTC
Version: 4.0.4 (using KDE 4.0.4)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

Login and then exit the KDE GUI session you will see the Crash window open up.

This happens every time we use KDE and exit.

Only have KDE installed on Fedora 9.

Should exit normally.
Comment 1 Jeff Hoffman 2008-05-22 20:18:58 UTC
OK some other testing...

If I close all open windows, firefox, terminal and Skype then it exits normally.

Comment 6 FiNeX 2008-11-19 20:25:22 UTC
Changed severity to "crash". I hope to have selected only the right bugs (>100) :-)
Comment 7 Attila C. Yilmazlar 2008-11-19 21:26:58 UTC
Yes this a crash.
After several updates on Kernel, KDE and some Libs problem still exists.

Comment 9 Dario Andres 2008-12-14 16:46:23 UTC
Have anyone experienced this bug again with a recent KDE version ( 4.1.3 / 4.2beta1 / 4.2svn)? Thanks :)
Comment 10 Attila C. Yilmazlar 2008-12-14 22:18:00 UTC
Hello,

I am using Kubuntu Interpid Ibex Kde 4.1.3
Still have this problem.
Problem happenes when Firefox or Thunderbird or Amsn left open while shutdown the system.
Comment 11 Leon Weber 2009-01-17 22:59:52 UTC
This problem still occurs very reliably with KDE 4.1.96, no matter if any apps are open or not. The backtrace is the same as the attached one.

I am experiencing this on Kubuntu 8.10, so the Platform of this bug report should be changed from Fedore to something general.

Fixing the problem should be given a high priority as it seriously interrupts the user.
Comment 12 Dario Andres 2009-01-17 23:05:31 UTC
@Leon: may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? Thanks :)
Comment 13 Attila C. Yilmazlar 2009-01-17 23:08:23 UTC
I also have the same problem even after updates.
I also have the same problem when kopete runs.

Please find a solution to this problem.
Comment 14 Dario Andres 2009-01-17 23:09:45 UTC
@Attila: may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? Thanks :)
Comment 15 Leon Weber 2009-01-18 00:05:26 UTC
I'm sorry, I only had a rough look at the attached backtrace without noting all the question marks. I'm posting a better backtrace with fewer question marks now, maybe a perfect one without any of them will follow tomorrow or later, I'm just too tired to wait for all the -dbg packages being downloaded at the moment. There you go:

@Leon: your backtrace says that your problem is a different one (also, it isn't hitting an assert). Your crash is about a bug in the xine translations (italian and german). As a workaround you can delete the translation files of xine.
Look at bug 175407 comment 9 for a detailed explanation
;)
Comment 17 Leon Weber 2009-01-18 00:17:47 UTC
I see, interesting. Deleting the localisations worked. As the backtrace posted by Attila is also talking about xine stuff, I suspect that he's experiencing the same problem. I guess this bug should be a dupe of bug 175407, then, no?
Comment 18 Dario Andres 2009-01-18 00:20:13 UTC
@Leon: Atilla's crash backtrace has a "qFatal" which means it crashed in a failed assert , and therefore it's different to your own crash.
However, we don't have information about the original crash from the bug reporter, it may be even a different one :)

Hello,

I am very very sorry.
My bug seems to be fixed with the latest updates.
I can now turn off my computer without any problem even Firefox and Thunderbird open.

Thanks everyone who worked to fix this bug.

One bug less..
Now we have to wait for the original reporter (however at this point he hadn't posted a single comment)
@Jeff: are you there? If you can reproduce the crash at will in a recent KDE (4.1.4 / 4.2beta2 / 4.2rc1 / 4.2svn / 4.3svn) , may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? Thanks :)
