Description John B 2008-05-21 22:54:35 UTC
Version: 1.6.6 (using KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

This is really just kinda nit-picky, because you can already tell by the title bar, but it'd be nice if something could happen to the tab when its command exits. This would be useful in situations where you have multiple tabs open and a command finishes in another tab.

What is the preferred color ?

Oh wow...I literally have no memory of opening this bug. That said, I do agree with the person who opened it, now that I've read it. :)

Hmm; well, primarily I would say that decision may be better left to a UI/UX expert with a background in color psychology, if you're not just going to pick one at random from a color wheel. But since you're asking me, I'll do my best.

In the newest version of Konsole that I'm using is 15.12.3 (as packaged by Kubuntu 16.04). In that version, the "activity in an inactive tab" highlight is a subtle (too subtle, IMO, but that's a personal preference...visually it looks pleasing but the subtlety sabotages its primary function of attracting attention) blue tint, maybe this should be a subtle magenta tint? So it's kinda the same color, to suggest that the information being conveyed is similar, but distinct enough that you can tell it doesn't mean _exactly_ the same thing?

To me personally, the exact color chosen isn't as important as making the app able to differentiate them in the first place; if I don't like the default, I should be able to change it with a custom stylesheet as described in the Konsole documentation:

https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/applications/konsole/tabbarstylsheet.html

If you plan on working on this, make sure you are using a recent master. A lot of code has changed recently dealing w/ tabs/sessions.

With the latest versions of konsole, it is now possible to enable monitors to be notified about actions in other tabs. An alert will be displayed both on the tab (with a icon) and for the notifications daemon.

Isn't that enough?
