Description Edward Bryan 2008-05-18 19:57:10 UTC
Version: 0.6.3 (using KDE 4.0.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

Merge (concatenate) pdf files by drag and drop .pdf files into an existing pdf document. Akin to the feature in Adobe Acrobat whereby .pdf's can be dragged and dropped into the Pages thumbnails panel and in a preferred order. e.g. the new .pdf can be inserted after (say) page 4.

Also permit pages in the pdf document to be deleted or extracted, again as per Adobe Acrobat.

I find it very useful to be able to combine .pdf files into 'books' of my choosing. For instance, printing web pages as pdf's and then combining them to keep a record of an online transaction, for instance.

Thank you for considering this.

Okular is only a viewer, and we decided long ago to not turn it into an editor (that require a totally different set of features); so, the above requests won't be implemented, sorry.

In case it will, this will be available just using the print to file features.

Hello

Thank you for the reply and the explanation.

I can understand your decision, the problem is that I am unable to find
a pdf editor for Linux. There are any number available for Windows, of
course.

Generally, it is easy to find alternative Linux apps so this is a
surprising omission.

All the best and thanks for the great work on KPDF and Okular.

@Edward: you should check http://www.accesspdf.com/pdftk/. There is something even on kde-apps.

Hi all

I'm actually supporting the idea of having a PDF merge functionality in Okular. I understand and respect the developers decision to keep Okular as view only application (well, not quite true as commenting is possible). But from the user point of you it would be the most natural way of using one application to view and handle simple PDFs modifications like add or delete pages. So maybe you might want to rethink your decision.
Anyhow, I like Okular very much and use it every day!

As said, won't happen
