Do you satisfy all dependencies for this kipi-plugin? Normally there should be an error report if things go wrong. I just run the plugin and everything works fine. Make sure you have the following programs installed on your system and that the plugin settings match the paths to those applications:

MJpegTools
ImageMagick

All dependencies are ok because I use the package manager ,who verify the dependencies. I run the plugin with digiKam, and the paths are ok.
The program just say that (I'm French user) :
-----------------------------------------------
Initialising...

-----------------------------------------------

ETAT DE SORTIE : le processus d'encodage est terminé avec succès.
(OUTPUT STATE: the encoding process is completed successfully.)
And there is no mpeg file.

I'm now using kde4, and it seems that mpegencoder is not yet ported to kde4, so I can't test it until a version comes with this plugin.

digiKam has a new Video Slideshow tool based on QtAV and ffmpeg which do not
have this problem.
