Version: 1.2.9 (using KDE 3.5.9) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages While checking the archive settings I've discovered that I've set it to keep articles for 180 days. This generated over 2K entries in some channels so I've decided to cut it down to 200 articles. But I had some channels with 400-500 unread entries (no time lately :P). Those channels were truncated to 200 entries only without a question. So, I've lost at least 500 unread articles thanks to this. Proposed solution: an option that forbids the archive engine to delete unread entries not watching the limits.
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of akregator (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
