Version: 4.0.3 (using KDE 4.0.3) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux The default font used by Konqueror, DejaVu Sans, is shown incorrectly. This makes it illegible. There is already a bug report, 154919, which reports that some fonts are shown incorrectly. The reason I am writing this in a new bug report is that Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4 displays this bug in a very prominent place, so I think this bug may be seen by many people. (If other people see what I see.) This makes a fix more urgent. I am using the live CD, I have not installed this distro. The Live CD for this distro has only two icons on the desktop, "Install" and "About Kubuntu". The "About Kubuntu" icon is a HTML file, introducing Kubuntu and KDE. When this file is opened by Konqueror, it displays a page of illegible text. This will often be the first app that people will use when trying out KDE 4, so it gives a bad impression. A quick fix for this would be to simply change the default font used by Konqueror. The problem with displaying the font incorrectly can then be fixed later.

Uhg, I should have drink my coffee first, but.. We cannot deside which is default font in linux distributions. Afaik we ask for StandardFont and it depends settings of fontconfig which fonts konqueror gets. It's not hard coded to dejavu.
