Description Bobby 2008-04-14 17:31:16 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: GCC 4.2-24
OS: Linux

Gwenview has improved a lot over previous versions but there is at least one "feature" that is somewhat of a nuisance:
If I mark 100 photos/images and go to "open with Gwenview" then the programme opens 100 windows! I made the mistake of doing so today and it slowed up the computer plus I had the taskbar and desktop full of Gwenview's windows. Could you please change this so that only one window is opened no matter how many photos are marked?
GQview (my favorite and a very good image viewer BTW) shows that it can be done otherwise.
It would also be nice if one could be able to copy or move (right click, copy to or move to) a photo without having to change to the thumbnail view.
Apart from that it's a really nice programme.

My observation is the situation has been improved in recent versions.

When asked to open multiple images, only one gwenview is opened to browse and view those selected images. It creates some symlinks under /tmp/kde-<user>/ to simulate a folder which contains only those selected images.

I remember posting somthing like this as a bug some years ago. It hadn't changed.
will try to explain what the problem is.
Mark 10 images and then open them with Gwenview and see what happens.
Yes it opens 10 different windows! Isn't that stupid?
Why can't it just open 1 window and let me view the 10 images by simple clicking from 1 - 10?
GQview can do it and other image viewers can do it so why can't gwenview?
Is this so difficult to fix?
Gwenview is a wonderful image viewer but I am sure that a lot of users would welcome this improvement.

(In reply to comment #2)

Please calm down.

Your original report is quite clear, otherwise I would not have tried to reproduce and triage it.

In comment #1, I'm just writing down my observation of how gwenview behaves under that situation in *recent* versions of KDE SC (newer than 4.6.5). That is all.

I can confirm that selecting multiple images in dolphin and then "right click"->open with->gwenview works as described in comment #1. But pressing the enter key will open multiple windows of gwenview.

Perhaps related to bug 304299.

Works in 4.10.2 here. So most probably a duplicate.
