Version: 0.9.2 (using KDE 3.5.8) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux It would be nice to have the ability to mark certain folders as ignored in digiKam, either manually, one at a time, or via some sort of pattern match in the settings. For instance, I use JAlbum to create albums for the web (predating digiKam), and the albums are stored in a subfolder called "album" under the picture folder (called, for instance, "birthday-08"). I really don't need to tag those pictures or even find them in searches or browsing, as they are generated and merely copies for the web. Another example is a subfolder called "resized", where smaller copies of a few pictures might be created for email or whatever, that do not need to be cataloged. In both cases it's preferable for me to keep the files near the source, and not in another location outside the digiKam tree. Being able to say "ignore folders named album, resized" or "exclude folders starting with ~" would be nice.
You can do that with "Advanced search". Unfortunately no wildchars but you can define in which albums search shouldn't be done.
I should clarify that I don't mean just search, but that I don't want them to be listed in "My Albums" at all.
John, your wish sounds very similar to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150531 . Could you please check, and if you agree I would like to mark your wish as duplicate (if yes, you could add your usage scenario as comment to the above bug). Thanks a lot, Arnd
Perhaps. I think the mechanism could be generic enough to encompass both. In my case, I wouldn't want the folders hidden, but basically just completely ignored by digiKam. If the other bug was expanded from a public/private option to a public/private/ignored option, I think it would work.
Actually I just reread the other bug a bit more closely and it's not clear to me whether the intention is to tag individual images with a hidden tag, or to add some property to the album properties so you can mark the whole folder hidden/public. There are comments that seem to indicate both solutions. I would want to mark a whole folder/album as ignored, not individual pictures. I asked for clarification on the other bug and will await more information before deciding.
John, This file still valid using digiKam 2.x serie ? Gilles Caulier

Honestly I haven't checked lately. I think this is more a dupe of bug 123097, but either way the closure is fine.
