Description Torquil Macdonald Sørensen 2008-03-31 15:34:37 UTC
Version: 1.9.9 (using 3.5.9, Debian Package 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-2+b1 (lenny/sid))
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-1-686

I activated the groupware functionality in the KMail preferences, but it did not create the folders Contact, Calendar, and so on. Quitting KMail, and adding a line

TheIMAPResourceAccount=# (where # is the ID of my IMAP account)

in the [IMAP Resource] section, solved the problem. At KMail startup, it then notified my that the needed folders were not there, and asked if it should create those folders. After that everything works, I can use korganizer and kaddressbook with data on the IMAP server. (Now if there was some easy way to transfer all my knotes notes to the imap server without recreating every note one by one...)

Yeah. I had to sync in KMail once, manually - after enabling the IMAP resource functionality. This solved some weird errors stating failed folder creating when trying to use a resource from Korganizer.

Thanks for filing this bug report.
My groupware functions also were broken. Adding the line TheIMAPResourceAccount=# to my kmailrc made them work again.
Where Did you learn about this config entry?

Great that you got it working. Sorry, I don't remember exactly which page I found it on, I think it was several places. At least there are a few ubuntu pages if you search for "TheIMAPResourceAccount" on Google. I'm not using the groupware functions anymore, since I think there is a bug that makes it impossible to have knotes data on the imap server.

On KDE 4.2.1, i get a popup that asks me whether kmail should generate the folders. Upon agreeing, kmail generates the folders. They do not show up, unless the appropriate checkbox is unchecked in the settings, of course.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
