Kontact/Korganizer crashed on me at startup after I had generated a TODO-Item from an Email with a big attachement. I could fix it by manually removing the corresponding item from .kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics.

The item was created by left-clicking the email, then selecting "New Task...".In the std.ics, it looked like this (it is anonymized/shortened):

Do you have a backtrace of the crash? I ask because this bug looks like a duplicate of bug #156865

Sorry, I cannot provide a reasonable backtrace, because debug symbols are not compiled in for the binary package of my distribution. But the bugs at least seem related...

Unable to reproduce in trunk and attaching a 2.5MB jpeg file.
Which probably means I won't be able to reproduce in KDE 3.5.9 either.

Had the same problem after attaching a .pdf file to a ToDo item; did apply it in the Attachment Tab (at my site: Anhaenge bearbeiten) via the Add File button (at my site: Datei bearbeiten); then the ToDo item was sent to an attendee; after rebooting the system (next day...) the Korganizer die crash with a signal 11 message;

Attaching a PDF may yield bug 159247. Otherwise, there is a chance this is the same as bug 174800.
