Version: 1.4.2 (using 3.5.8, Arch Linux) Compiler: Target: x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.24-ARCH you go out, take thousands of pictures and then at home you have to sort them, to categorise them and put them in folders e.g. by ocasion or by person on the pic or by place, ... often this cannot be separated by date - e.g. when you take pictures on a wedding, you want to make sub-folders later, one containing the guests, another children, the other the couple, ... the fastest way is to make subfolders in a folder where the pictures are and then moving or copying the pictures from the top folder in the separate folders. gwenview is a powerfull, fast and flexible photo viewer. it would be great to have shortcuts association ability to the "External Tools". What i mean is that in gwenview one should be able to associate a keyboard shortcut (e.g. CTRL-a) to a external tool. this way the external tool could be "mv %F ./somefolder/%F" what makes such sorting very fast. also other external tools can be usefull to be run by a key and not by the menu option, its faster and in the full screen view it can be very useful to screen large amount of pictures (thousands) by just typing keys instead of on every picture doing a "rightclick -> External Tools -> the tool one wants"
I don't have time to add new features to Gwenview 1.4 anymore, so this won't make it in 1.4. Gwenview 2.x does not have external tools yet. Since we have reached soft feature freeze for KDE 4.1, adding external tools back won't happen before KDE 4.2, sorry about that. I changed the summary to make it more explicit.

Bug#131581 is also a duplicate of this one. Although beeing _very_ old (2006-07-31) BTW: I would love to have the "external tools" back in 2.x. See Bug#215880.

There is no external tools in 2.x, and there probably won't be for the foreseeable future, so closing as unmaintained since this bug affected 1.x.
