Version: unknown (using 4.00.63 (KDE 4.0.63 >= 20080221), Gentoo) Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.24-git18 After some time, the ALT key seems to get stuck, i.e. kde reacts as if it was pressed all the time, which means no normal interaction is possible anymore. Killing kded4 from terminal 'solves' the problem. This has started to appear only two weeks or so ago so it must have been introduced by some recent change.
Yep, I get this too. Killing and restarting kwin seems to help, so I'm reassigning to kwin.

killing both ALL the time anyways as they both screw up *a lot* XD P.S.: right after clicking on commit both crash.. is this the start of the much talked-about port of Marvin's human personality AI to KDE?
I experience the same problem. For me killing kwin does not solve the issue. Killing kded4 always works.
During the past weeks the problem 'evolved' (in trunk)... Sometimes kwin stops responding (I need to kill it), but the Alt key problem dos not occur anymore. When kwin dies however the keyboard is locked: I can only switch to vt1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1), and kill kwin from there. I've read there could be a deadlock problem running kwin from X terminals. I'm running my kde sessions (startkde) from a failsafe session's konsole. Could that be the reason of my problems?
I've not run into this prob for some time now.. syncing up right now (hope plasma has settled down a bit *g), dont think will have to reopen this..

Isn't this a duplicate of bug 172462 as well? Besides, I think this should still be open instead of WORKSFORME.
