Description Alexey Charkov 2008-02-19 13:00:50 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Would be very useful to have an opportunity to print the following from Gwenview:

1. Multiple copies of the same image on a single sheet of paper, with specified dimensions.
For example, one might wish to print nine 4x3cm photos (for documents) on a 10x15cm photo paper.

2. Multiple different images on the same sheet of paper, with specified dimensions and number of repetitions for each image.
For example, one might wish to print several 10x15cm photos on A4 paper.

3. A single photo spanning several sheets of paper (poster), with marks for cutting and gluing parts of the whole poster.
This way, one would be able to use a photo printer to create really large posters, provided that he/she has enough glue and good scissors to combine the parts:)

Currently, I can't find this functionality in KDE4 apps or elsewhere. However, I do recall seeing something similar in (presumably) Ulead Photo Express under Windows long time ago.

Which version of gwenview are you talking about?

> 1. Multiple copies of the same image on a single sheet of paper, with specified dimensions.

on gv 1.4.x you can print 10x15 cm photos more than once using kipi-plugins.
4x3cm i can't remember by now. but you can open a bug on kipi-plugins for that i believe.

That is already in kipi plugins > 0.1.4

> 3. A single photo spanning several sheets of paper (poster), with marks for cutting and gluing parts of the whole poster.

That could be a good idea for kipi-plugins print-wizard...

I use KDE4 SVN, so I am talking about Gwenview 2.1 from kdegraphics SVN tree. It looks to me that kipi-plugins are still KDE3-only...

Yes you're right kipi-plugins has not been officially released for kde4 and moreover
i haven't ported printwizard yet :/

But since a lot of work has been already done it there and kipi will be part of gv, that one should be
the right place where to find such options. Of course everyone is happy if someone implements
that into gwenview directly :)

1. and 2. are working with kipi-plugins now.
Poster functionality seems to be missing, so moving bug to product kipi-plugins.
