Description Andreas Pakulat 2008-02-07 17:12:25 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Currently the oxygen theme restricts the width of embedded code snippets to a fixed size. While this looks good when the code snippet is small, quite some of the tutorials have large code-samples and also some other content types (irc logs come to mind) are simply not navigateable with this. Reason is that one has to scroll down to the place where the horizontal scrollbar for the embedded area is to scroll it sideways and then go back and find the place where one left reading. Thats quite inconvenient.

OTOH the other existing skins all don't fit at all with the current content and don't look nicely.

So the request is for an oxygen theme that doesn't set the embedded areas to a fixed size, but instead let the content flow to the right out of the area.

@ Andreas Pakulat:
Can you provide some links regarding this issue, I believe this could depend on how your browser renders the page as well.

Apparently techbase.kde.org has been changed meanwhile to not use embedded frames for the code/log/.. display. Hence there's only the global scrollbar. On websvn.kde.org one can switch to a "full width" mode with a link on each page.

That leaves only bugs.kde.org (so feel free to move this bug to the right component), where its especially painfull with backtraces that are themselves longer than a screen page (vertially) and have wide lines too as I can't really see how much I have to scroll to the right to make the missing part visible. Or I can't easily find the line I was looking at again because the numbers are gone.

Moved to the correct component as the tech-base has been fixed. Thanks

If I understand this correctly, the changes made to techbase fixed this.

Yes, techbase is ok, however this bug was moved to bugs.kde.org component now as there the problem still exists - especially with backtraces.

Is this still an issue with current bko version?
