Version: (using KDE 3.5.8) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages the computer -> monitor era is over. computers are connected to tv's and beamers, remotely controlled with pda's/mobile phones and 'interfaced' through media centers. kde could deal with different screen sizes/resolutions/applications implementing user-gui profiles with "intelligent-defaults" for habitual scenarios than could also be customized: * computer video mode: - tv out: use lower resolution than pc screens typ. >1600x1200, use big fonts - hdmi out: use hd resolution, use big fonts - pda/mobile remote connection: use low resolution/color dp, use small fonts - mini laptops/tablet pc's: small screens 7-10", small resolution, small fonts - vga out of laptops and devices with small screens can use higher resolution - deal with multi-screen setup's with all the above * media center mode: big fonts/icons interface to launch multimedia apps on (hd) tv's, beamers and pc monitor * screen sharing mode: desktop/media center streaming (share and show shared as "channels"/gui-profiles/screens) (last two points requiere new or third party applications that are not related to this wish/ bug system but they're provided as examples of applications that could be adapted/programmed around this gui-profile system, ex: xxx multimedia player could show a different gui's, classic when running in pc mode, remote controled simple gui when launched from media-center, etc giving the possibility to future versions of 3rd party programs to "sense" on what kind of screen they're)
