Version: (using KDE 4.0.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs In the KDE 3.5 version of gwenview you had a small preview or "image" panel that displayed the currently selected image in the browser panel. This has been changed to a much large preview panel in the KDE 4 version. The latter is better in my opinion. However, the KDE 3.5 version had one major advantage of the KDE 4 version: you could detach the preview panel into its own window. For single-screen setups this was not particularly useful and could probably lead to some confusion where you close that window and "lose" the preview (although it is easy enough to get back). However, on dual-screen setups it was invaluable since you could have the browser open on one screen and display the full version of the currently-selected image on the other screen in its own window, even if the two screens are radically different sizes. That allows you to easily find the image you are looking for by its thumbnail in a full-screen browser and see it immediately fullscreen on your other monitor, making both viewing and navigating very easy. There is no way that I can find to do this in the KDE 4 version, or any way that I can find to do it anywhere in KDE 4. I think it would be extremely useful to have some option to open some sort of separate preview window in gwenview that shows whatever image is currently selected in the browser panel. It would not have to be implemented in the same manner, a toolbar button or menu entry that allows you to specifically open such a window would be sufficient. But making it possible in some way would be extremely useful. This was the primary feature that set the old gwenview apart in my opinion since I have two monitors with very different screen sizes.
Yes, it's a regression. I will probably add something like this, even if I don't have a Xinerama setup yet.
I have a many Folders with much more then 1000 Pics. With Kde3.4 I used the detail view for finding by date or by filesize. With Kde4 this is not possibel. I used gwenview for open pics direct form Internet (Picassa,...) now ist ist not possible. (Copy graphic address with browser and paste in Address field in Gwenview)
