It would be VERY useful to be able to free tag to-dos and events. The current category system is clunky and slow to use. Free tagging entries by simply adding them in a comma separated list at the bottom of the entry window would speed this up immensly

Free tags should add categories like normal, which can then be edited (change name, colour, etc.)

Similar, but not the same - This bug is requesting an overhaul of the category system - bug #124378 is requesting that another free-tagging system be added alongside the existing category system.
