Version: 0.9.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux Problem: in the defalut view of the image editor, the toolbar is a bit "under populated". All the items from the main menu can be crammed into the main tool bar. But that makes the main tool bar a bit overloaded. Possible solution: A second tool bar for image editing. And here my suggestion for the default lay out of the image editing tool bar: - the items from the transform menu - rotate left - rotate right - flip horizontally - flip vertically - crop (maybe even drop this, if the aspect ratio crop obtains a aspect ratio "free") - change size (resample or how the english tranlation may be) - aspect ratio crop - Shear - Free rotation - Perspective Adjustment - ----- space holder - Now some points from the Color menu - Auto Correction - Brightness/Contrast/Gamma - Hue/Saturation/Lightness - White Balance - Levels Adjust - Curves Adjust - Black and White - ----- space holder - Most viable items from the Enhance Menu - Sharpen - Blur - Red Eye - Noise Reduction - Lens Distortions - Vignetting - Decorate - Insert Text Of course this selection is my personal opinion and I tried to focus on the most viable items for image improvement.
Maybe I can awake this wish from the dead... After improving quite some of my images I'd like to list here an order which represents my experience. Nothing special, just the steps and the order I use to improve my pictures. Maybe this would help those who want to do some quick modifications before posting images. Following from top to bottom (or from left to right in the toolbar) would also simplify the workflow a lot. If some of these buttons are not applicable for the specific picture, they simply are not clicked. To be applied to the whole unchanged picture. - Transform => rotate left - Transform => rotate right - Enhance => Lens Distortions - Enhance => Vignetting General correction changing the geometry of the picture - Transform => Free rotation - Transform => Shear - Transform => Perspective Adjustment - Transform => aspect ratio crop Correcting/editing the colours - Color => Auto Correction - Color => Levels Adjust - Color => Curves Adjust - Color => White Balance - Color => Brightness/Contrast/Gamma - Color => Hue/Saturation/Lightness - Color => Channel Mixer - Color => Black and White Enhancing the picture quality - Enhance => Sharpen - Enhance => Noise Reduction - Enhance => Red Eye Misc - Transform => change size (resample or how the english tranlation may be) - Decorate => Insert Text - File => Print
