Description Eugenio Yime 2007-12-05 14:09:38 UTC
Version: 3.5.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Well, this is just another idea.

Sometimes I had used 'ssh' to allow some friends to get some files from my computer (using sftp). So, I would like to know, in a graphical way, who is connected to my machine. I know i can use the command 'users' but I just suggest another way with more information, maybe how many hours the user had been logged, Full Name, Picture?, date of login, actual status (working or not). That's all.

Thanks.

Not a kcontrol specific wish. Moved to kde/general.

I think this is a very good idea from a security and privacy perspective--especially given the Privacy goal.

I'm imagining that it could be implemented as a small system tray applet that appears when there are any SSH, SFTP, FISH, SMB, VNC, etc connections to the machine, and it could show where the connection came from and provide a button to terminate it. It would be similar to how we show a tray indicator when something is using the microphone.
