Version: 3.5.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux I propose an option in which a folder icon could indicate that the folder is empty. A possible way of achieving this would be adding an X to the lower left portion of the icon. I'm sure there are other ways of indicating that the folder is empty. One benefit of this proposal would be the elimination of the need to verify that a folder is empty before deleting it (I always double check that). Another benefit would be for those who check "incoming" folders. I have 6 "incoming" folders. It would be nice if I could just look at the top level folder and see which "incoming" folders have files and which do not. I'm sure that there are numerous other benefits as well.
I move this wish to dolphin, konqueror in KDE4 doesn't manage directly file browsing but it use the dolphin part.
Thanks, FiNeX. Makes sense.
This makes browsing files much easier.
Shouldn't this be under "artwork"?

There could be the default “empty” folder icon, and one with paper (“files”) being visible for indicating there are files inside.

Created attachment 58310 [details] mockup Here is another mockup I made a while back for the same idea. This one uses a new icon, so it won't conflict with people who may have intentionally set the empty folder icon.
