Version: Kile 2.0 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8) Installed from: SuSE RPMs First: Thank you very much for the preview of formulas! The feature is great! Second: If I use \begin{eqnarray}..., \begin{equation}..., \begin{align} and select "Fast Preview" -> Formular, I get a warning that there is no formular. The same command within $...$ works fine. Third: In general a formular is not so big. So the preview below the text as png is more usefull. This great feature is implemented - Please make it default!
@First: Thanks in the name of all kile devs. @Second: I don't know exactly what you mean by "Fast Preview"-> Formular. If you mean mathgroup, this is only meant to be used with $ ... $, \( .. \) and \[ ... \] with $$ ... $$ being not supported. If you want to preview an environment, use the preview environment function. @Third: We can check that. Thanks a lot, Thomas
Thomas Braun wrote: [bugs.kde.org quoted mail] Sorry, I have a german version: Schnellvorschau -> Mathematische Gruppe Maybe: Fast Preview -> Mathematic Group The shortcut is: Alt+Strg+P,M If you mean mathgroup, I think, that's right! this is only meant to be used with $ ... $, \( .. \) and \[ ... \] with $$ ... $$ being not supported. I here that $$ is a bad idea, so there is no need to support. But take this example: \begin{align} M_B & = i \cdot \eta_g \cdot M_{mot} \notag \\ & =4{,}8 \cdot 0{,}8 \cdot 96{,}6\,\text{mNm} \notag \\ & =370{,}944\,\text{mNm} \end{align} This is a mathgroup, but is not supported! Keep on your good work. I use the great Kile every day! Klaus
Hello Klaus, well I think it is just a matter of naming. Currently we don't consider math environments as mathgroups. So for environments call Quick Preview->Environment and for mathgroups as described above QUick Preview->Mathgroup. And the reason we don't support $$ .. $$ is only partly because it is discouraged but also that it is really tricky to support it.
Quick preview seems to be working fine for any selection, even those containing $$...$$ in 2.9. It also works fine for most common math. Quick preview for maths could be done without if Bug #284121 is addressed.
