my ditrib is kubuntu : gutsy (7.10) + kde 3.5.8
re-tested in jaunty so 9.0.4 + kde 4.2.2 (kghostview dpkg -l -> 4:3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hard): the document now opens but shows only blank pages
Could you please check whether or not the document open right in Okular?
