Some commands to try: Code: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install sudo dpkg --configure -a ...but those are mainly for fixing problems with the APT database itself. If it still doesn't work, it's probably a problem with Adept. Try "sudo apt-get install --reinstall adept adept-installer". (If it happens with other parts of Adept, try reinstalling those too.)

I have been getting this same crash and backtrace. It is occurring with kubuntu 7.10 for i386. It starts after the initial install of kubuntu. After the fresh install, the recommended upgrades / patches are downloaded but the adept reports a failure when committing the changes. The reason given is that the changes would break packages. After that, any use of Adept reports that the database is in use by another instance and the user is presented with a dialog to close the other instance. This is when adept crashes and generates the reported backtrace.
Mine does a similar thing... everytime it crashes Adept. >.< Mine didn't have as much to complain about, it said "no backtrace possible" plz help?

Running Kubuntu 7.10 for i386 in VmWare 6 in win vista. Everything worked with upgrade & installing programs for 2 days then i did get this message when i tried to install codecs for mpeg & mp3s. If it still doesn't work, it's probably a problem with Adept. Try "sudo apt-get install --reinstall adept adept-installer". (If it happens with other parts of Adept, try reinstalling those too.)
