(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kppp Version: 1.1.2 Severity: wishlist Installed from: Mandrake Hi folks Not a bug report but a wish list item. Using Kppp in marine area. Dialing same ISP via satcom or GSM or PSTN modem.( depending on location ) Would it be possible to code each Account with a specific device ? This would allow several accounts to be setup for the same ISP using different bearers. Generally serial direct to GSM and Satcom pstn using v.90 modem. Thanks ! hello I would like to vote for this wish list item (multiple serial connections). BTW is someone maintaining/developing kppp? It seems to me that kppp is quiet for a long time. regards radek pospisil

Same here, I use nokia with usb cable to connect to internet / when I am not home my husband connects over lucent v90 modem. The problem is that modem-device cannot be assigned directly to internet account rather there is just one shared modem configuation. Second problem is that I cannot issue multiple initialization commands because my fixed-line modem needs very different initialization string than my GPRS internet over mobile phone: AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP","internet.t-mobile.com" So, everytime I want to swith between them I need to change device file and initialization string for modem; this is very-very annoying ...

Do you already have the version of kppp that allows to set up multiple modems? If so I would assume that most - if not all - of your problems are already solved. Harri.
This project is unfortunately no longer maintained. If a new maintainer wants to step up and take care, the project is archived here: https://invent.kde.org/unmaintained/kppp You can just clone it in your private namespace on invent.kde.org and if you have started to work on it and fixed/implemented something get it reviewed and the project unarchived. Sorry for the inconveniences.
