Version: 3.5.7 (using KDE 3.5.7, Gentoo) Compiler: Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22-gentoo-r5-pppoe I cannot open at AIX V5.3 compressed tar files under my Gentoo Linux whereas at the command line of my Gentoo Linux I can do an gunzip t.tar.Z w/o any problems. The konqueror gives me a "Cannot open file" msg. Instead if I rename the file to .tZ and open it (ark is used for that) - ark recognize the format as "Compressed UNIX" - open it and ask me again for opening a "tar archive".
Hmm, it should work: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121601
>Hmm, it should work: What I mean is, that for foo.tar.Z I got an error whereas for foo.Z the konqueror doesn't show an error. instead konqueror (respectivly ark) subsequently asks me for the (correctly) choosen file type and opens it fine.
Issue remains within 3.5.10. A file named as foo.tar.Z is shown as empty if opened with konqueror. The same file - renamed to foo.tZ - however is opened correctly (with ark).
I could not reproduce this behaviour in KDE 4.2.2 - foo.tar.Z opened as a common tarball and foo.tZ was considered a gzipped file. Since there are no plans for a 3.5.11, I'm closing it as WORKSFORME.
