Description Maciej Pilichowski 2007-09-06 19:03:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

It is possible to click on some entry line but not on the text, but in event columns. Then this item is selected but also this event is turned on.

The problem is it is done silently, user often does not have a chance to notice it -- there is no icon shown, there is no any other indicator.

If such behaviour (column fields clicking) wanted, please provide immediate visual feedback, i.e. display icon at once.

Marking as invalid, to make you realize that you should be more descriptive on what you mean. I had to read your previous bug report three times (bug 149601) and I fail to see the point of this report too (after multiple reads). What exactly is the real problem? What risks are involved that the user does not notice such events (whatever those events may be)?

Oh, and what do you mean with an entry line?

The risk -- for sure computer will not burn down, but this is a bad UI. Simply. User clicks somewhere and she/he is not aware (and program does not show it) there are changes made.

The solution is simple, when the user clicks in the column -- turn on/off appropriate icon. That's it. Currently only turning off works properly.

"Entry line" -- take a look at Knetworkmanager for example, the whole "link down" line.

Great way to do so...

All work fine on my KDE 3.5.7. There is a visual feed back.
And In KDE4 it's not clickable anymore anyway.

Olivier, you mean you can click in "log to a file" column and the icon appears there? In this column?

However I like KDE4 solution much better, so good news it is changed this way.
