Description David 2007-07-29 04:15:34 UTC
Version: 3.5.6 (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty) 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.20-16-generic

If I turn on my laptop where there isn't already a trusted wifi network, then all of the web pages that were open when I last shut down (and my session was saved) obviously have "Error while loading".
The problem is that if I do later establish a connection (such as through kppp), Konqueror still fails to (re)load any web pages at all. Clicking the go button, pressing F5, etc. don't work, and even copying or typing an address to a new window doesn't load it there.
Other programs (including ping) are working fine - in fact I am submitting this report by copying the URL that the 'report bug' wizard produced into Firefox.
The route command correctly shows that everything should be going through ppp0 (at the moment), and Konq also doesn't load sites by IP, ruling out a DNS issue.

I have now run into this bug when there Was a functional internet connection on startup! before logging in to kdm I set up a bluetooth link to a computer sharing out its low-bandwith dialup connection (24kbps).

After logging in Konqueror is completely unusable for http or https in any window old or new. I have been testing the other kioslaves, and ftp works, as does file:// (I could have mentioned that one last time - the local folder windows are fine on startup), and data, finger, fish, lan, etc. also work.

This is now Kubuntu Gutsy, KDE 3.5.8, and the network connection is not managed by knetworkmanager (which is running)

If there is any more information or testing I can provide, please let me know.

I discovered just now that I Can use knetworkmanager to manage the bluetooth connection (after creating it with pand --search) and this fixes Konqueror.

This guided my research and I found Ubuntu-bug-86680 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/knetworkmanager/+bug/86680 ) which describes this problem, and it has a link to kde bug 130472 - which is what this bug is a dupe of. (I can't fix that myself)
