Description Morten Wendelboe 2007-07-13 00:29:55 UTC
Version: 1.4.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

With Amarok 1.4, gapless playback should be possible. And yes: I think that the playback of 2 tracks is gapless, but it is not working correctly. If I playback 2 tracks from a concert-CD, there is a click between the tracks and the sound is not continuous.

I have tried a lot of tracks in different formats (wav, ogg) and on different machines with Amarok 1.4.5 and 1.4.6. I think that the problem is, that some part of the beginning of the second track (and maby also some part of the end of the first track) is cut away. There is not a gap between the tracks - the just don't fit together.

I'm not sure, but I think that there is a greater problem with ogg-files than with wav-files.

I have tried the same tracks with MPD (www.musicpd.org) and it worked just fine (though it was a bit difficult to make MPD work).

Here is some links to some small files which can help in solving the problem:

Maybe it would be a good idea to use some part of the code from MPD instead of the xine-engine.
