Description Jonathan Ryshpan 2007-06-24 20:44:14 UTC
Version: kprinter 0.0.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

I have just installed FC7. Setting up a Brother 1440 printer as an ordinary user, the wizard went through the entire setup process OK, then hung after pressing "Finish". There appeared to be massive disk activity and a fair amount of CPU usage. After waiting for about 2 minutes, I killed the process. Setup under root worked fine, and the system now has a working printer.

Jonathan,

can you please enable debugging of KDEPrint? KDEPrint is part of kdelibs, and I assume there are packages called kdelibs-debug or similar in Fedora which would need to be installed alongside the standard packages.

Then, use "kdebugdialog" and enable debugging for all kdeprint-related things.

Last, start "kaddprinterwizard" from a konsole window (as user), and see if the resulting output gives you/us any clue about what may go on.

Also, please post the contents (sans comments or empty lines) of your cupsd.conf and client.conf files:

   grep -Ev "^$|^#" /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
   grep -Ev "^$|^#" /etc/cups/client.conf
   grep -Ev "^$|^#" ~/.cups/client.conf

KDEPrint is obsolete, unmaintained and will never be revived. Closing all open bugs.
