Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.7) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Hi, is possible that, kopete has started to use libpurple libraly? :-) AdiumX working with libpurple, in roadmap centreim is too migrate to libpurple... :-)
Hello! Please no! :) libpurple is outdated (ICQ/MSN) and is buggy as well as Pidgin is. Kopete has been developing plugins for years so I think there's no reason to stop it and switch to another, worse in my opinion, library. 18.06.07 в 18:43 okias в своём письме писал(а): [bugs.kde.org quoted mail]

Sorry, but this won't be happening. We've invested years in our own equivalent library and protocol implementations and there's no compelling technical reasons for us to switch.
No compelling reason? How about that both AdiumX and Pidgin (even in the Gaim days) have supported Jabber TLS. The latest release of Kopete still does not. Last I checked, Kopete is neither bug free nor fully featured. Figure out what you guys want to work on.
Wouldn't it make more sense in having more Open Source developers working on one set of plugins, instead of two?
Euh.. reasons?? libpurple supports a LOT more protocols. one is for example: Microsoft office communicator! (SIP) A protocol which is VERY important for desktops @ the office. THATs why pidgin is the most used open source client on Linux & Windows, and not kopete
