Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.7) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: GCC 4.1.2 OS: Linux In previous versions of Konqueror it was pretty annoying that these yellow shortcut popups (however these are really called) popped up every time the Ctrl key was shortly pressed once. Earlier they popped up only if the Ctrl key was pressed for a few seconds. Now in Konqueror 3.5.7 they pop up every time a website is loaded without pressing the Ctrl key. After pressing the Ctrl key they disappear but pop up again after about a second. And they pop up randomly even if there was no new website loaded. This is extremely annoying and should be fixed as soon as possible. They should pop up only if the Ctrl key is pressed for a few seconds again as it was in earlier versions so that they also don't appear every time one stops the screensaver by pressing the Ctrl key.
I'm not sure I follow. I don't think I've noticed any changes in the accesskey handling in 3.5.7. Could you give a series of steps that show the changed behaviour?
> This is extremely annoying and should be fixed as soon as possible. If there's a way to reproduce we'll surely fix it. But I'm not able to reproduce it either.
The only thing I can say is that I've installed KDE 3.5.6 before and did an update to KDE 3.5.7 by Gentoo's portage (emerge -uDN world). After the update I rebooted the system and logged in with kdm. Then I of course connected to the internet, started konqueror and opened a website. As soon as the website was loaded these yellow popups with the shortcuts popped up without pressing a key. I left the keyboard completely alone and the keyboard is pretty new so that the reason can't be a defect keyboard. By pressing the Ctrl key the yellow popups disappeared but popped up again after about a second, again without pressing a key. Only after pressing the Ctrl key a second time they finally disappeared but only until a new website was loaded. This happened with many websites, among others: http://www.rbb-online.de/_/kontraste/index_jsp.html http://www.wdr.de/tv/monitor/index5.phtml And some more. If I recall correctly there were also the Gentoo forum's and KDE sites affected. The only thing which helped to fix was to put these lines into ~/.kde/share/config/khtmlrc: [Access Keys] Enabled=false Or can this be triggered by some mouse gestures which I thought I had deactived some time? But now I'm seeing that they are activated again, maybe some newly added. But I'm not sure if I moved the mouse when these popups popped up. I don't think so. In this case I would suggest that these mouse gestures should be deactived by default.
Note: Xine can be set to fire a key-pressed event regularly to keep the screen saver from starting. Mine is set to (pretend to) press ctrl, which means that any open Konqueror regularly shows access keys when I use Xine.
It can't be caused by xine because xine didn't run when this problem occurred.
I'm not able to reproduce with KDE 3.5.10 and current KDE 4 trunk. I think it has been fixed. Someone could confirm it?
