Version: 0.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.6, Debian Package 4:3.5.6.r1.dfsg.1-4 (lenny/sid)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.18-4-686 I'm only looking for the ability to organize PDF "images". That is, show a thumbnail, the image itself, and add metadata such as tags and comments.
Michael, What the problem here. Just add *.pdf in image mime type settings and you can manage PDF files with digiKam. Of course support of PDF in Editor is not available. also PDF format is not yet supported in Exiv2 to handle metadata... Gilles Caulier
Without metadata it would be pretty pointless to manage PDF files in digikam. Am I understanding this correctly that if Exiv2 supported PDF metadata, digikam would automatically use this feature?
Absolutly Michael, if Exiv2 support PDF metadata, digiKam will support it automaticly. I recommend you to post a wish in Exiv2 bugzilla to add PDF support. http://dev.robotbattle.com/bugs/main_page.php Note: XMP support have been add in current Exiv2 implementation. In XMp we already support all Xmp tags supported by PDF file format. Gilles
I can currently (0.9.5svn, exiv2 0.18svn) import PDFs into digiKam, assing tags, rating, write comments. 2 drawbacks worth implementation: - cannot see previews - Konqueror generates them without problem, they doesn't have to be great quality. Just small for preview in album view and slightly bigger - or even the same - for Preview mode. - by default trying to open them in IE. Some MIME magic would be great here. Wow. I imported and some metadata-ed HTML file. You know, with being more creative ;) with thumbnails and MIME handling digikam could be really nice general file manager :) And just add small dose of filemanagement (especially export to external devices[1]) and very good e-book manager!
