Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux There is one thing missing in all Linux picture viewers tested by me. I look at the pictures very often. During viewing them I would like to indicate which pictures are to be send/copied/modified/whatever. Now I have to open another console with midnight commander and select pictures in it simultaneously (with often pressing alt-tab), which is very ineffective. What I would like to see is when pressing insert or another key, image changes its status from selected to non-selected and the other way. Then, after looking at all images, those choosen are selected and could be copied/moved/... to another directory.
Yes, currently it is very difficult to select for example 30 pics from a folder with 200 to send to someone or whatever. You are viewing them one by one to choose the ones you like. You come across one you like and what you do? Write down on a paper then filename??? Because when you finish viewing them and you know more or less the 30 pics you like, you go to the thumbnails view and you won't remember very well. Even worse, you select first 10 and then come across one you're not sure if you want it or not, so you click to see bigger and when you go back to thumbnails you've lost your selection. The solution to make this very common task easy would be to implement a persistent selection button (and keyboard shortcut) so you can select while viewing and after when you go to thumbnails view you have them all selected. Very important feature, in my opinion. I've seen many people struggling with different ways of doing this simple task (and everybody wants to do this task often!).
That's a valid workflow improvement IMHO. See also bug 386463.
