Description just me 2007-04-22 22:24:32 UTC
Version: 0.8.0 (using KDE 3.5.5, Debian Package 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-8 (4.0))
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.18-4-686

The good wellness effect on using rsibreak could even be enhanced if it would be configurable to display a reminder, e.g. to drink some water or to check the insolin level for diabetics. As the program basis is already there this change should not cost too much time.

Thank you!

Good idea. I will add this after the port to KDE4/qt4

Hmm, I kind of disagree here.
People should drink if they are thirsty or just put the bottle of water right next to the keyboard. That helps a lot. And if you have diabetes, you better know your times without relying on your computer to tell you that.
Telling people to do this and that and when and what is kind of overregulating. It not just doesn't help (you become very good at ignoring things when they come up too often), it also leads to the brain not thinking for itself anymore if it comes to those things.
RSIBreak is great. Taking your hands off the mouse/keyboard once in a while is a thing that is easy to forget and the brain is ok with it because you do not need to think about that when you are not at the computer. Being told to drink water every x hours, being told to eat every y hours, being told to go the dog for a walk ... yay, you do not even have to listen to your body or look at your dog. Your computer tells you when ... well statistics tell you that you and your dog are not statistically adjusted.

Whatever. Think for yourself. Even if it gives you a little headache due to slight dehydration sometimes...

I agree that you should not rely on RSIBreak to remind you to do important stuff. Especially in the case of insuline, which is quite important to take at the right time.

I picked up this bugreport as the request to show a custom text at the time of a break. Or maybe enter multiple lines and pick a random one at break time.

Yeah, custom text sounds reasonable. :)

Unfortunately I have decided to no longer develop RSIBreak. I want to thank you for taking the time to report your bug / wish, but I will have to close it now, because there will be no new version of RSIBreak. You will have to live without the wish, with the bug or look for alternative software.

Again thanks for reporting, sorry I can't close this bug as fixed for you.
