Version: 3.5.4 (using KDE 3.5.4, compiled sources) Compiler: Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-5mdv It appears that some animated gifs created by (one or some) commercial picture drawing programs may be getting constructed incorrectly and therefore get animated incorrectly by Konqueror. While viewing this webpage (seti forum): http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=38566 There was/is a logo (MODCOW) that was/is displaying incorrectly in Konqueror but displays seemingly correctly while using Firefox. I took the graphic using GIMP and it appeared to display okay in animated format. Using GIMP I decompiled the bad animated gif and rebuilt it and noted that the new animated gif now displayed correctly on konqueror (this indicates to me that the graphic may possibly be built wrong or in a format not understood correctly by Konqueror). I asked the author of the animated gif for more details and it turns out that the animated gif was constructed using JASC which I think is supposed to be a popular windows program for making pictures (therefore there may be plenty of animated gifs on the internet with these sorts of "characteristics". My recommendation is to accept incorrectly built (by JASC (or other)) animated gifs and attempt to render them correctly in Konqueror. Please see the attached files
Created attachment 20224 [details] mostly blank with one frame showing cow/grass/words This animated gif graphic was created using JASC and displays okay in Firefox but incorrectly in Konqueror 3.5.4
Created attachment 20225 [details] animated gif re-built with GIMP displays correctly This gif was built based on the bad gif by using GIMP to decompress the gif and rebuild it the way GIMP builds animated gifs. This is what is expected to display correctly for Konqueror.
The bug is still there in 3.5.9, but fixed in trunk.
Thanks, glad to see it acknowledged and fixed for a future version of Konqueror.
