Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2007-02-20 17:25:16 UTC
Version: 1.4.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

I come from MacOSX and switched to GNU/Linux two years ago, but sadly I organized all my music using iTunes-only tags (tit1 and ... ) which were called "compilation".

It would be great, if you could add support for full customization of the tags amaroK reads out - with identifier (tit1) and label (compilation).

And I'd get my music-organization back and could begin using music creatively in roleplaying sessions again :)
(there are about 100hours of work in these tags...)

sorry, we don't do any meta tag reading ourselves. i'll reassign to taglib.

TagLib does support this, moving back to Amarok. It's an issue of deciding if it fits in the UI and that's up to you guys.

We support itunes compilation TCMP tag now with 2.4
Also we try to fulfill the id2v3 specification regarding tags.

Can you specify what other tags you need?
How exactly would you want to customize them?
Comment 6 Arne Babenhauserheide 2011-07-27 12:21:25 UTC
Thank you!

I would like to be able to add custom fields, so Amarok can read any kind of (potentially patologic) tagging.

Hi Arne,
this "wish" has already 60 votes (which means that at least three people assigned 20 points to it).

Maybe you could propose how this should work and look in the user interface.
Maybe make a sketch.

Thats' how I would imagine this to look like -> http://image.bayimg.com/eaojeaada.jpg
a click on "Add custom tag field" would open a dialog for the user to enter the desired tag field with a save/ok and cancel button.

Very important feature for me since i have some custom tag fields and I invested a lot of time creating them.

relaxed evening,
noobie

If this were implemented would the ability to search on such custom fields automatically come with it, or should that be another feature request? I'd love to be able to search by conductor.
