Description Karl Ove Hufthammer 2007-02-11 15:45:08 UTC
Version: SVN (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

If one wishes to rename a .tex file used in a Kile project, the process is not very user-friendly:

1. Drop to a terminal window, or navigate to the folder containing the file.
2. Rename the file.
3. When you start/open Kile, it complains loudly about the missing file, *several* times.
4. Right-click on old file and remove it from the project.
5. Close the tab for the old file (Kile may complain yet another time).
6. Navigate to the correct folder in Kile, and open the file with the new filename.
7. Right-click on the new file and choose to include it in the project.

My wishlist is for the following change to be implemented in Kile: To rename a file, just do:

1. Right click on the file (in the left-hand pane) in Kile and choose 'Rename file'. Everything will be handled automatically, and no error messages appear.

A renaming feature is definitely missing. You can expect it to be present in (one of) the next versions :-)
