Description Martin Fabian Hohenberg 2007-02-08 18:38:32 UTC
Version: 1.4.5 (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Currently, I can control amarok with [Win]-Z, [Win]-B and [Win]-V for Next, Prevorious and Stop... However, Once stopped, I am unable to restart Playing with a simple keyboard shortcut.

This really'd useful, IMHO.

After digging through the Global Shortcuts menu, There seems to be [Win]-X ... But why oh why is this not advertised in amarok trayicon context menu like those of REW, STOP and FFW?

It is advertised when Amarok is currently stopped ("Play"). What's the problem?

Basically, the problem is that the Keyboard shortcut is not mentioned in Amarok's context menu. This is a usability issue, because the user only finds out about [Win-X] after digging trough the "Global Shortcuts" dialoge. I used Amarok for over 18 months without realizing [win-X] exists, and manually opening amarok for resuming play after telephone calls (which happen quite frequently). I thought there is no such shortcut, because it does not appear in the context menu. Why should I search for a shortcut, when there is none advertised, while other shortcuts are?

Yeah, those are "just two clicks" to restart the playlist ... however, power users like shortcuts, as they usually are faster with the keyboard than the mouse.

I see no reason why every single other function should have it's shortcut mentioned, but "Play" not. Please add the Play shortcut to amarok's context menu.

Closing this, as the Problem is related to the now-obsolete 1.4
