Description uli9999 2007-01-14 13:46:08 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

With Auctex, I can use kdvi instead of the default xdvi as the viewer by using
M-x customize-variable TeX-view-style

Furthermore, I can activate the inverse search feature by using
M-x customize-variable TeX-source-specials-mode

When I select "Command->View" for my tex file, this builds the following command line to start kdvi:

kdvi -sourceposition "25 file.tex" -editor "/usr/bin/emacsclient --no-wait +%l %f" file.dvi

However, kdvi refuses to start with the following error message complaining about an unknown option:
kdvi: Unbekannte Option "-sourceposition".

I am aware that I can activate inverse search with kdvi and emacs; however, I like about the auctex method that I do not need to copy srcltx.sty around, put "\usepackage{srcltx}" in my tex files, and edit my .emacs.

Probably I could also edit other settings of the TeX source specials group of auctex to make things work with kdvi. However, I think that compatibility of kdvi with xdvi in this respect would be the better solution.

Well kdvi is not supported anymore, so maybe it's time to close this bug.
And maybe test how it works in okular?
Comment 2 Jekyll Wu 2013-09-28 13:42:40 UTC
kdvi is no longer maintained since KDE SC 4, and its functionality is replace by okular. If the issue in this report still exists in or apply to okular in KDE SC 4.10.5 or higher, please reassign the report to okular product or create a new report against okular.
