Description Eric Marsh 2007-01-10 05:26:06 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

I've just installed Debian Etch on a dual core (Intel 830) machine. When I try to connect to krfb from a Mac using Chicken of the VNC the connection crashes almost immediately. When I try to connect with Tightvnc on an XP machine it crashes, but not right away. When I connect from another Linux box it seems to be ok.

Might be related to bug #102305 or bug #124529
Comment 2 Bram Schoenmakers 2007-01-16 17:21:11 UTC
Could you provide us a backtrace please?
Comment 3 Eric Marsh 2007-01-16 18:09:31 UTC
It's going to be a bit tough to do so right now, unless there is a crash file somewhere on the system. At first when I tried to connect it would throw up a crash log. Now it won't even do that, I simply get a connection failed message. The tough part is that yesterday the monitor on that machine went down so I can't stop and restart the vnc server because as soon as I stop it I can no longer get to the desktop.

I'm going to get a new monitor but it will probably take a week to have it delivered.

might be related to bug #124529, that is some race condition due to threading used by underlying libvncserver. KDE 4.0 version does not use threads and should solve this as well, but without a backtrace is hard to tell.
